Hi friends!  Things may have seemed quiet for awhile, but HopeWorks has been hard at work behind the scenes.

In December, HopeWorks and Real Church Detroit are partnering to host the second annual Joy To The D, a Holiday Outreach that provides gifts to families in need. We provide hundreds of brand new toys and gifts to parents who are otherwise unable to afford gifts for their families. Our goal is to bring Joy to The D with this heartfelt act of love!

Joy To The D is a simple event, and goes a long way to brighten the holidays for countless area families. Children arrive with a parent or guardian, and are treated to age-appropriate activities like games, lessons, stories, crafts, and snacks. Meanwhile, the adults visit our FREE holiday store, where they are able to shop in private for their children, and even have their gifts wrapped and labeled. It’s all about families, and it’s all FREE. Our goal is to provide a happy and loving season for as many families as possible – and through that, inspire an entire generation of dreamers and change-makers within the metro Detroit area.

Last year, approximately 250 families visited Joy To The D at our Hamtramck facility. That’s 250 families with gifts under the tree! And this year we are doubling our efforts, adding a second Joy To The D site. So on Saturday December 17th , we’ll be dealing strictly in joy, hope, and gifts – spreading love and cheer to families in Hamtramck and Detroit.

We believe in the city, and we believe in the message of Hope. We believe that spreading hope creates the kind of positive change that transforms cities – and lives.

Stay tuned for exact time and location information.  In the meantime, we’d love to partner with YOU!  Here’s how you can help bring Joy to the D!

  • Consider hosting a Toy Drive. We will provide a collection box and sign that you can display in your
office, store, church, or any public place. We will arrange for pick up or drop off of the items before the
    event.
  • Become a sponsor of our event. We are in need of cash donations, as well as items like wrapping paper,
tape, ribbon, decorations, crafts, refreshments, and more. All donations received, whether monetary or
    physical goods, are tax deductible.
  • Volunteer at our event. Come serve the families of Hamtramck and Detroit with us on December 17th!
